So you're basically only replacing the flex from a pendant,, which is generally only 2 core (no earth) with another 2 core flex, but there is no earth at the rose!! imho i'd swap the flex and issue a danger notice if there's no rcd or any class 1 fittings on the circuit. Lighting circuit without earth. I've just about to replace a standard light pendant with a new (fancier and metal one) and noticed that the new fitting has no earth connector i think it doesn't need one as the live and neutral wires are double insulated (within rubber sleeves and in a plastic connector box) if that's the case do i just tape up the earth wire and leave it in.
lighting circuit without earth
Hi lads my 1st pir with this problem downstairs lighting circuit has no earth, and the light switches are metalic what pir code should i use and can anyone recommend a solution without rewiring circuit. Hi, i have recently moved into a house. it has a new cu and all wires from this into the house have 3 core earch wire. however when ive inspected the lighting circuit itself most of the lights appear to have an earth but a few of them dont. however most of the switches in the house are not earthed, they just have 2 core wire.. The most dangerous thing is to think you have earthed it, but to have connected to an earth that doesn't actually go back to true earth - in old lighting circuits this can occur. the floating wire can then pick up a voltage by capacitive couling to adjacent wiring, causing all sorts of unpleasantness..
